Futher details:
Strathtay House is a delightful sunlit house which is split level on the ground floor, has extensive wood lining and has an large sunny balcony
on the first floor. The large lounge has a stylish, open fire and bay window with window seats, looking onto the large garden and field beyond.
There are bouble french doors between the lounge and both the dining room and the spacious hallway. Strathtay house is only a few miles
from the A9 which is the main road to the north and is about 1 hours and 10 minutes from Edinburgh airport. The village of Strathtay where
Strathtay House is set. grew ip in victorian times with the introduction of the railways in Scotland and orginiated as a place to come on
holiday - a role, you would find, that it continues to fulfil today.
Local attractions:
The village is characterised by large, gracious houses in their own grounds and it has all the ingredients you could wish for. There is a 9 hole
golf course, set amongst woods, within 5 minutes walk of Strathtay House and other attractions which are just as close by are a new
restaurant, set on the banks of a white water section of the River Tay, a village pub and the local grocer's shop and Post Office. There are also
country walks over moors and through woods which are easily accessed from the house and you can observe a considerable variety of wildlife.
River rafting, canoeing and fishing are available locally and there are plenty of places for you to eat out and historic places for you to visit in the
locality. Around 5 miles away, to the west, there is the thriving, market town of Aberfeldy which has interesting shops, a working water mill and a
Recreation Centre with a swimming pool.
There is also an attractive, 18 hole golf course which has a new, pedestrian bridge spanning the River Tay to link the two parts of the course which are set on different sides of the river. Further west than Aberfeldy there is the picturesque village of Kenmore, on the shores of Loch Tay (and only some 20 minutes drive from Strathtay), which has another 18 hole golf course in the grounds of Taymouth Castle. If touring, you can continue travelling west along the scenic shores of Loch Tay and on to historic and mountainous Glen Coe which has a ski centre. To the east of Strathtay is the tourist town of Pitlochry (with a railway station) which is only some 15 minutes drive away. Pitlochry is famous for its 'Theatre in the Frills' which shows six plays in as many days, in the season, and has another 18 hole golf course and an interesting choice of shops. From Pitlochry one can travel on north up the A9 - the main Scottish road to the north- to Aviemore, with its ski centre, and on to Inverness and beyond and return to Strathay in the same day.
To the north east of Pitlochry you can travel to Glen Shee and on to the Lecht (both ski centres) and you can travel through the Deeside countryside around Balmoral which is the Queen's castle in the Highlands. About 30 minutes drive from Strathtay, to the south, is the 'Fair City' of Perth, set astride the River Tay, with all the attractions and amenities one expects in a town -including at ice rink, a swimming pool and sports centres. The main Scottish towns of Edinburgh and Glasgow (both of which have airports) are easily accessed from Strathtay being about 1 hour 20 minutes and 1 hour 45 minutes drive away, respectively.
